General Info

Located in the cliffs of Pikes Peak, this collecting area should be left to only the bravest and most technically gifted rock climbers.


Amazonite - Large crystals can occur. Can be dark blue-green colored and twinned.

Smoky Quartz - Crystals can be more than 20 cm and weigh up to 7 kilograms, according to Alexander (Raines).

Topaz - Blue to colorless and often exhibiting a complex termination. Crystals weighing more than .5 kilograms have been reported. Murphy and Modreski (2002) state that crystals up to 3.5 inches across have been found.
