Gold in quartz from the Eldorado Mine near Silverton. Also contains pyrite (top and bottom of gold seam). Measures 4.7 x 6.5 cm.

This is from one of the last finds at the mine before it closed. A single gold wire mostly exposed from the encasing sphalerite. The miner first found these while leaning on the wall and noticed something snagging his clothes. A fortunate accident. From the Floor 3, 279 Stope, 1500 Level, Black Cloud Mine near Leadville. Measures 0.8 x 1.7 cm.
