North Table Mtn. 1998 Trip Photos

This was not a scheduled NJG&M Club field trip. I was invited on this trip by a member of the Colorado Mineralogical Society (CMS). The digging site was high up on the east side of North Table Mountain which is the mesa just north of Golden, CO.

Cliffs just south of where we would be digging. These cliffs are composed of basalt. Another view of the cliffs. Two ancient lava flows created the basalt cliffs and bubbles formed in them. Zeolite minerals later filled these bubbles. That is what we will be looking for.

Breaking slabs of basalt, hoping to find pockets. This is hard work!
