Trip Report!

This trip took us to two general areas: Black Mountain and the Copper Mountain Mining District. Several clubs, one of them from Wyoming, were involved and we had a good turnout.
Black Mountain Searching the dumps
This is Black Mountain where spodumene, black and green tourmaline can be found. This is the only known spodumene pegmatite in Wyoming. A short writeup of this location can be seen in volume 15, number 5 (May 1997) of the Mineral News newsletter. Searching the dump material for specimens.


More searching Partial group picture
Searching above the main digging area. Some loose spodumene pieces were found up there. Some of the club members on the trip.
